Financial Aid, Free Meals and Spiritual Guidance from the Arch

Dear Saint John’s Families,
 
The past 24 hours have been overwhelmingly positive, given the circumstances. I’m excited to share some good news!
 
Scholarships and financial aid:
Yesterday, the Aim Higher Foundation contacted me to let me know that our Saint John’s students were being awarded a total of $14,000, with a few more scholarships yet to be awarded. This is a testament to our students and parents’ commitment to excellent education!  

Additionally, we have extended our deadline for Financial Aid Applications to May 4, 2020. A parishioner provided $20,000 a year for 5 years in scholarships. We also had a donor support our school with $250,000 in financial aid. These dollars will not only help more students who need tuition assistance, but will continue to fund our Wilson Reading Learning System for next year! 
 
Free meals for students:
Roseville Area Schools is committed to supporting our students’ nutritional needs throughout the school closure. They are providing meals at no cost to all children 18 and younger. They are not requiring student identification. If you would like information on meals for your children, please click  here.  
 
Eagle Club childcare: 
For families of healthcare personnel, we have Eagle Club childcare available; however, we will need advance notice of your need for care. Since at this time we have had no requests, Eagle Club will not be open the rest of this week (through March 20). Please contact me no later than Friday, March 20, for any future care needs, as we must assess and plan staffing accordingly.
 
Spiritual direction from the Archdiocese:
Despite the positivity, we did have a bit of sad news from the Archdiocese yesterday. Masses have been suspended through the end of March. Yet, Archbishop Hebda and Bishop Cozzens are urging all students, their families, teachers, and the entire community to join them in praying daily the  Litany in Time of Need, also found on our website under  Eagle News. This litany will be carried daily on Relevant Radio around 11:05 AM each day. Please tune in and join us on AM 1330 or at  www.relevantradio.com. You can also pray this Litany at any time of the day.
