Every week I make sure to visit all the classrooms. It is great to spend time watching learning take place, and the back of a classroom is the best place to reflect on the learning and teaching. At my recent leadership conference, we discussed research showing that the average classroom teacher makes over 1500 significant educational decisions each day. Observing a classroom brings this statistic to light, where changes happen four times a minute and need an experienced and skilled response! Teaching is hard work, and I am grateful our teachers build strong relationships and do their best to provide instruction for the educational needs of every student. As we approach the final months of this school year, and our focus shifts to assessments, service learning, Gala, parent newsletters and evening events, teachers also continue to manage those 1500 decisions taking place each day. Please help me acknowledge the incredible job our teachers are doing. I am filled with gratitude each day for their service and devotion to our students.
Finally, every day, the kids bring laughter to my day. My preschool friend, Juliette, talks to me about hammerhead sharks every day at lunch. Last Friday, she was so excited to show me her new jacket, which of course, had a hammerhead shark on the front! How can I/we not love Saint John’s and all of our amazing students?
