Dear Saint John’s Families,
Today’s update has more resources, as I’m certain we have a lot of stir-crazy kids on our hands. (My kids are bouncing off the walls!) I wanted to add a couple of digital resources for you to consider over the weekend and in down-times between coursework next week. Please remember we are together in this, and God is with us; I understand that your world right now, just like ours is a little upside down, yet we are excited for the day when we are back together at Saint John's.
Report cards:
Trimester 2 report cards for students in grades Kindergarten - 8 will be emailed to you on Friday, March 20. We will use the main contact email on TADS to email these out to you. If you do not receive your k-8 student's report cards by Saturday, March 21, please notify Kathy LaCasse at [email protected], and she will work with you to make sure you receive it. Also, if your child's grades earned a spot on the honor roll in grades 6-8, those will be emailed to the same email address. These will be all done one at a time as there is no way to mass email individual results, so if you have more than one child, it may be a bit in between before you would get them all.
Free meals for students:
Today, Roseville served nearly one thousand meals to students across the district, and they will continue offering two meals a day to any student who needs them.
Meals can be picked up curbside daily between 10:30 AM–12:30 PM at Brimhall, Central Park and Little Canada elementary schools. There are more than 20 additional locations where meals may be picked up at various times of day. Visit the Roseville Food Map to find a site near you.
Eagle Club childcare:
We have not received enough request form families of healthcare personnel, Therefore, Eagle Club will be closed . Please sign up here, we want to be there for our families.
Educational resources:
Your teachers are beyond excellent, and they’ve been working overtime to get their lesson plans converted to our distance learning environment. You have no doubt been in contact with your teachers.
I wanted to provide a couple more resources, as you work with your kids over the weekend:
Preschool: Duck Duck Moose offers a combination of apps and ideas age-appropriate for Preschoolers. It includes everything from early Math and Reading to physical movement: http://www.
Reading: Scholastic is offering a free trial right now. It is primarily read-aloud books: https://www.scholastic.
Epic is another site with a free trial: https://www.getepic.
Math: Right now DreamBox is offering a 90-day free trial. The program lets participants work at their own pace to build skills: https://www.dreambox.
Science and Social Studies: Mystery Science is great and is a huge hit with our students. It has lessons split up by grade level: https://
Art: Mo Willems is doing a new art video every day at 1:00 PM. You can view the video starting at 1 pm daily and throughout the remainder of the day: https://www.kennedy-
Art for Kids Hub: https://www.youtube.com/
Movement: Kids love GoNoodle for movement breaks: https://www.gonoodle.
For those of you on Facebook or other social media, there are multiple sources for learning which others are sharing. Many zoos, museums and others are offering educational experiences online. It may be a good place to check for resources to keep kids busy, as I know many of you are still trying to work from home as well.
Preschool Mom’s Night postponed:
Lastly, if you’ve been checking our School Calendar, you’ll notice some events into April are being postponed. This includes Preschool Mom’s Night, previously slated for Thursday, April 2, 2020. We are hoping to reschedule these events, so stay tuned for more information as we navigate through this time.
Have a safe and healthy weekend! I can't wait to see the kids again.
Dan J. Hurley, Principal
