I must tell you how impressed I am with the children here at Saint John’s! They are rolling along in our new way of doing things with very few hiccups. Every day I see happy children engaged and excited about learning and being in school. They are doing a great job with wearing masks and distancing, while at the same time participating in learning and socializing with friends. Our teachers are doing a phenomenal job providing fun, captivating learning experiences. It is fun to see how creative they are!
We all appreciate the extra work our teachers are taking on to make learning in our school building a possibility. It would be so great if you could extend a sincere “Thank You” and/or even a surprise gift card. Positive messages and actions from a parent go a long way in letting our teachers know they are appreciated.
UNITY DAY: At Saint John's during the month of October we educate students about anti-bullying and how to reach out, speak up and be a friend to one another. "More than one of every five school-aged children report being bullied,” said Julie Hertzog, director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center, which sponsors Unity Day and founded National Bullying Prevention Month in 2006. “By wearing and sharing ORANGE on Unity Day, we can send the unified message that we care about student’s physical and emotional health and that bullying will no longer be accepted in this society.
Wednesday, October 21, 2020. We invite students to wear an orange shirt (along with uniform pants or skirt) on this day, to show that we are together against bullying, and united for kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
CSCOE EVENT VOLUNTEERS: Who and what is CSCOE: The Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE) is an organization, which enhances excellence and helps increase enrollment in Catholic schools. CSCOE does this by sharing innovative ideas, sound business practices, proven strategies, and financial resources to help meet our individual goals. Learn more about CSCOE HERE. CSCOE is looking for volunteers from our school to help with some of their large events. In return, we will be provided a grant to be used for our school! We're hosting an informational meeting, from 11 a.m.–noon, October 20. Click here for a flyer with more information.
SAINT JOHN'S MASK SALE: We provided free masks for students during the 1st week of school. We will be selling these masks in the main office for $4.00. We have children and adult masks available. Show your Eagle pride while masking up around Minnesota!
Message from the CUB SCOUTS:
Cub Scout Pack 462 is hosting our Blast Off Night next Monday October 12 at 6:00 PM, outside the Saint John School Cafeteria on the playing field.
Color the Rocket ship and bring it to blast off night to get a t-shirt and enter to win a prize. (You can print the sheet HERE.)
As Cub Scouts, we always try our best and our motto is, “Be prepared.” At our event we will do our best to be socially distant and have a great time, as we blast off and prepare for a new year of scouting.
We welcome both boys and girls, Kindergarten through 4th grade, and their families to join us at any of our pack meetings. All are welcome to join us and learn more about Cub Scouts.
Our pack meetings and events will be a hybrid of events, both in person and virtual, as needed. We encourage social distancing and masks, as a precaution, to help stop the spread of the CoronaVirus.
Contact Cub Mast Rick Petersen at 651-755-7710 or [email protected] for more information.
