Welcome to December! I hope everyone had a wonderful virtual Thanksgiving filled with food, family, and friends! The holiday season is upon us and, more importantly, Advent has arrived.
At Saint John's we will continue to have fun while maintaining academic excellence, in the next three weeks, before our Christmas break. I hope you had the opportunity to virtually meet with your child’s teacher and learn how your student is doing with their school progress. I strongly encourage you to maintain frequent contact with your child’s teacher throughout the year. A virtual conference can always be arranged if you or the teacher feels the need to meet.
A big
THANK YOU to the parents who have brought in lunch, dinner, and treats! It means a lot to us during this unusual time. I appreciate your continued support as we work to meet your child's needs in a safe, fun and engaging environment.
REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN: CLICK HERE Please remember, our VIP students are students who are currently enrolled at our school. Since we already have waiting lists in several the grades, we wanted to give our current students a chance to guarantee their spot in their classroom for next year before we accept new students. Therefore, If you enroll your returning student by today,
December 1, 2020, your child’s spot in his/her class will be guaranteed.
As of
December 2, we will begin accepting new students for the 2021-2022 school year, which could mean they will procure your child's spot for next year if your child is not already enrolled. Regardless of when you enroll, there will be a family enrollment fee, which will be assessed when the first child from each family enrolls. The enrollment fee is $100/family until January 29, 2021. As of January 30, 2021, the enrollment fee increases to $200/family. (If you have more than one student, you should only be assessed the enrollment fee on one child. If you get charged again for this, please reach out to Karla Schultz at
[email protected], and she can work with you on correcting that.) So you will save $100/family if you enroll before January 30, 2021. You can re-enroll your student in your TADS account. If you have a new student, you will have to apply for admissions for the new student first.
Aim Higher: We are pleased to announce the opening of the Aim Higher Foundation's 2021-22 scholarship application cycle! Families can now access the Aim Higher checkbox on the financial aid applications available in TADS. Please click
HERE for application process.
Financial Aid Available: Please note, you are required to apply for AIM Higher to qualify for Financial Aid.
PRINCIPAL COFFEE TALK: I have an open-door policy, yet this pandemic has not allowed for families to walk into the school. In response to this, I will be hosting virtual coffee talks on a regular basis. These informal meetings are a great opportunity to talk about goals and decisions for the school, to ask questions and hear what questions others have, and to meet other parents. Please join me!
Time and meeting details will be announced soon. You will receive a google meet calendar invite based on your child's grade level.
WINTER ATHLETICS: As of right now, the Catholic Athletic Association (of which Saint John's is a member) plans to offer only middle school hockey and basketball, beginning after the first of the new year. At Saint John's, we have received enough interest to have a grades 5-8 hockey team! Please contact Laura Haraldson, athletic director, with specific questions, and to ensure your child's spot on the roster:

INTRODUCING SANTA DRIVE-THRU: Even while we are social-distancing due to COVID, Santa still wanted to make an appearance for the students, friends and neighbors at Saint John's! Swing by Saint John's Gathering Space Circle (same method as carline)
between 10:00 and 11:30 AM Saturday, December 12, to receive a gift and treat from the jolly old elf himself. And be sure to tell a friend!
WINTER WEATHER: Please be sure that your children come to school prepared to go outside for their recess break. Students
will be going outside as often as possible. Students will not be allowed to stay indoors, because they are not properly dressed, so please have coats, hats, mittens, ski pants and boots ready! Also, please have your child check the “Lost & Found” table in the cafeteria for any missing items.
The inventory is growing!
COVID REMINDER: If your child is sick, please keep them home and communicate with the front office and teachers when your child will be out of school for illness. The student will be provided make-up homework, not distance learning.
Students or family members who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms, please click
COVID-19 Attendance Guide for Parents and Families. In addition, please email
Karla Shultz and call 651-484-3038; we will go over our protocol
decision tree, in detail. If we decide your student(s), will be out of school for an extended time, we will provide live instruction virtually during the regular school hours of 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The next few months will be a challenge. Please follow the recommended protocols; this is essential for us to continue to meet our dual objectives of offering a rigorous learning experience,
and a safe environment for teachers and students.
PRESCHOOL FAMILIES: SCHULZE EARLY LEARNING SCHOLARSHIP: Preschool families, the Schulze Early Learning portal is now open for scholarship applications.
