TAKE HOME FOLDERS:
Your child has a St. John’s School Take Home Folder .
Please check it every day so that you are aware of daily homework and classroom happenings. Communication to and from school should be kept in the Take Home Folder and brought to and from school daily.
HOMEWORK:
Each day your child will bring a Homework Log. Please ask to see this every day. This serves a twofold purpose. One is to alert you of your child’s homework each day. The second is to let you know what is happening each day, or inform you of special events of the week. PLEASE sign this each night and return it to school EVERY DAY! ( By helping your child with this responsibility, you are teaching them to be accountable for their learning!)
CLASSROOM CLIMATE:
Together as a class we will discuss what a positive learning environment looks like, as well as how each of our actions directly impacts each other’s learning and the environment of the entire class. Together we will develop classroom rules that usually look something like this:
-Listen carefully.
-Follow directions.
-Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working.
-Show respect to others. Be kind with your words and actions.
-Show respect to school and personal property.
-Work and play safely.
Every student takes responsibility for their own behavior. Everyone begins each day with green, "Good Behavior" cards in a pocket chart. Students who forget to follow the rules must replace their green cards with yellow or red cards.
*Green cards mean "You're doing great!"
*Yellow cards mean "Warning! Pay more attention to your behavior"!
* Red cards means "You have a consequence"
Thank you in advance for your support at home.
VOLUNTEERS:
Unfortunately, due to Covid, We will not be allowing volunteers into the building. If and when things open up, I would love some extra help! I, for sure, will reach out at that time.
Please note: if you want to volunteer at all, you must be VIRTUS trained or your training must be up to date. If you have not completed the VIRTUS Training, or you wonder if your training is up to date, you must contact Laura Haraldson. She will answer any questions you may have.
She can be reached at (lharoldson@sjolc.org).
DAILY SCHEDULE:
Our daily schedule is attached. Please note that this is a rough estimate of when each subject is taught. However, some lessons take more or less time than estimated and things may change accordingly. NOTE: Students need tennis shoes on THURSDAY!
SNACK: We will have a snack mid morning as our lunch is not until 11:40 pm. Please make every effort to send a HEALTHY snack to school with your child. (Please avoid potentially messy snacks! Liquid snacks tend to spill easily! ) Chips, cookies and sweets are not permitted as a snack.
Please see the attached list of our Star Students! This is your child’s special day to celebrate his/her birthday and tell us all about themselves! Your child will bring home a poster to decorate and share with the class. You may send a birthday treat on this day as well.
