At dinner last weekend, my daughter asked me, “What does it look like before the kids walk into school?” I had to think for a minute about the amount of work and energy that goes into running a school and a classroom! Every day I come to school, I’m excited to see what the day will hold. The teachers eagerly prepare their classrooms, putting the final touches on lessons. I see teachers making copies, meeting with each other about students, and sometimes having a minute for a cup of coffee. Our office is answering phones, sorting mail, and managing attendance. Our support staff, including custodians, and cafeteria workers are all busy doing their morning duties – cooking, cleaning, and preparing for the kids to arrive. When I say, “It takes a village,” it really does! Sometimes you forget the amount of work that goes into starting the day.
My daughter replied, “Wow, I thought people were having a cup of coffee and talking about what they did the night before!”
I want to recognize the hard work that EVERY employee puts in, making sure everything is perfect come 8:40 am when the doors open for the students each day!

Classes are filling up!
We would like to encourage our current families to re-enroll, as well as welcome more members to our Eagle Family. Please encourage families you know to tour our school! When families are ready to enroll, there will be a family enrollment fee, which will be assessed when the first child from each family enrolls. The Early Eagle Enrollment Fee is $150/family until February 3, 2023 - less than a month away! As of February 4, 2023, the Eagle Enrollment Fee increases to $250/family. So, you will save $100/family if you enroll before February 4, 2023. (If you have more than one student, you should only be assessed the enrollment fee for one child. If you get charged again for this, please reach out to Karla Schultz at schooloffice@sjolc.org, and she can work with you on correcting that.)
Emails were sent out to re-enroll your students for the 2023-2024 school year. PLEASE DO NOT apply again through TADS for your students. (Please note: If you have students who will be new to the school next school year, you will have to first fill out an application for admissions. You will find that option in your TADS account. You will only need to do this for new students.
Please see HERE for more information on enrollment for 2023-2024.
Please feel free to reach out to Kathy LaCasse at klacasse@sjolc.org if you have any questions as you complete your enrollment for next year.

Peace of Mind Parenting Webinars
This year, the Catholic Schools Center of Excellence (CSCOE) is again offering monthly parenting webinars with Dr. Jules Nolan as part of its mental health and wellness initiative, Peace of Mind. We’re pleased to share the information about the webinar in January.
“Parenting Exceptional Children” — January 18, 7 p.m.
Parenting children with educational and behavioral differences can be rewarding AND challenging. Even children who are gifted and talented present special challenges in parenting. In this session, we will discuss parenting children who have diverse needs because of educational, behavioral, and mental health challenges, as well as those who may need more enrichment.

Discipleship Sunday
We invite you to attend our Discipleship Sunday on January 22. Our next speaker at Discipleship Sunday is Jen Messing, a Theology of the Body scholar who will speak on a provocative topic: Sexuality and the Church. Her approach is very holistic and attainable to all ages, so invite friends. While she speaks, our kids in grades 5 and younger will make Valentines for Veterans in the Lower Church. Please plan to join us for this free, family-friendly event at 9:30 AM on January 22 in the Gathering Space

OFFER A SCHOOL MASS FOR A LOVED ONE?
Did you know you can have our Wednesday School Masses said in honor of a loved one, either living or deceased? Some families have purchased Mass Intentions for their beloved deceased, but also for our school kids or family members who might have a birthday coming up or are struggling with an illness. The suggested donation is $10/Mass, but Masses can only be offered for one person/family per week, so Mass slots are limited. Contact Laura in the Parish Office for more information: lharaldson@sjolc.
