Grandparents' Mass Postponed, Plus COVID Updates

September 28, 2021Dear Saint John's Families,
It was so great to see so many families at our annual marathon. We had a beautiful day, and I saw students and families enjoying music, games, obstacles, Bingo, food, walking/running the color marathon, and most importantly being together as a community! I want to thank all of our staff and volunteers for their time and commitment. Without them this event would not have been possible. A special thank you to Gretchen Hopeman for organizing this event.
Grandparents/Grandfriend mass POSTPONED.
After further consideration, we have decided to postpone our Grandparents/Grandfriends mass until we are in a Substantial Transmission (# of Students who are out sick* 6-14). We always look forward to this event and will have this mass in the near future.

ATHLETICS NEWS:
Soccer Clinic This Saturday & Winter Sports
Last call for our soccer clinics for grades K-4, which take place 6:00-7:00 P.M. Saturdays Oct. 2 and 16. Register at school.sjolc.org/information-calendar. We also have a K-4 volleyball clinic planned for 9:00-10:30 AM on Saturday, Oct. 16; register at the same link.
AND: It's not too early for all students to express interest in our winter sports: basketball (girls & boys), hockey & swimming. Students CAN be in multiple sports, but we need enough interest to support a team. Sign up today. Swimming is open to all kids able to swim 25 yards without assistance in grades K-8 (try-outs likely in younger kids). Register interest here: https://school.sjolc.org/information-calendar

Dads: Men's Club Wants to Treat You to Oktoberfest & A Free Dress Pass
Saint John's Men's Club is a parish organization committed to service to the community and to the school, particularly in the areas of athletics and Scouts. They host an annual Oktoberfest Meeting every October, welcoming anyone who wants to come for camaraderie, as well as brats, beer and more. There's no commitment beyond this celebration, HOWEVER any dad who attends this meeting will receive one free dress pass for each of their kids, courtesy of me. The event takes place at 7:00 P.M. October 14, at the Pavilion at Spooner Park. Please RSVP to Joe Collins at [email protected] by October 7.
