In my last newsletter, I mentioned we have many upcoming special events during Catholic Schools Week, January 23-28! The week will be filled with memorable events, including the annual Book Fair. Some may ask, what is Catholic Schools week? Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is now entering its 46th year and is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It is a week for us to celebrate everything that is great about Saint John’s and our community!
My wife and I made the decision to send our daughters, Alyssa and Brooklyn, to a Catholic elementary school and high school. We were both fortunate to attend Catholic schools. Like most families, it is not easy for us to afford the tuition, but it has been worth sacrificing some extra things so our children could have a Catholic education. It is important for us to see our children not only soar academically but develop a faith life with their peers. I remember when our daughters received the sacraments, their school brought the parents together which reminded us how wonderful it was to be part of our children’s Catholic faith journey within the context of our parish. Over the years we had many opportunities to talk with our girls about what they learned in school, their various service projects, and homework. We also had occasions to discuss respect for others, moral issues, and the importance of faith and prayer. I am thankful that our children continue to receive an excellent education and faith formation in Catholic schools. I hope you have time in the next two weeks to discuss what Saint John’s has meant to you and your family.

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY: RECESS HELP and EARN $50!
As we enter another year, we are looking for more volunteers. Please consider signing up for a limited-commitment playground-monitor opportunity! For anyone who signs up for five (5) playground shifts using this Sign Up Genius HERE, we will provide $50! Or if you're feeling generous, sign up for as many shifts as you like, pro bono. We have such a special place in our hearts for our generous volunteers.
Volunteers do need to be Virtus trained, which is a simple 3-step process; click here for more information. In addition, every month we will offer a "recess training session," where volunteers can get hands-on training on the ins and outs of our playground set up and rules. Recess occurs rain or shine, but does move indoors on days of inclement weather.
It is my favorite time, even when it's cold, to spend time with the students.

REGISTRATION OPEN TO ALL:
We already have a couple of classes near full - so ENROLL now to hold a spot for your student. There will be a family enrollment fee, which will be assessed when the first child from each family enrolls. The Early Eagle Enrollment Fee is $125/family until January 28, 2022. As of January 29,2022, the Eagle Enrollment Fee increases to $250/family. So, you will save $125/family if you enroll before January 28, 2022. If you get charged again for this, please reach out to Karla Schultz at [email protected], and she can work with you on correcting that.)
Current parents, PLEASE DO NOT apply again through TADS. (Please note: If you have students who will be new to the school next school year, you will have to first fill out an application for admissions. You will find that option in your TADS account. You will only need to do this for new students, current students will start at the enrollment step.) Please see HERE for more information on enrollment for 2022-2023.
Please feel free to reach out to Kathy LaCasse at [email protected] if you have any questions as you complete your enrollment for next year.
