Introducing DEAR and Virtual Spirit Wear Day

This Friday is Virtual Spirit Wear Day at Saint John's School! Take a photo of your kids in Spirit Wear on Friday, email it to [email protected], and get entered into a drawing to win a $10 gift card, courtesy of Catholic Schools Center Of Excellence (CSCOE). Gift cards will be to a variety of "distance-friendly" takeout establishments that the whole family will enjoy.
Introducing D.E.A.R.
Thank you to all who took our Distance Learning Survey (if you haven't yet, here's your chance!) In that survey, I inquired about a Drop-Everything-And-Read (DEAR) day, and the interest was overwhelmingly positive. Therefore, beginning next week and all Wednesdays through May 4, we will host DEAR days! The goal of these is tri-fold:- Encourage students to read. A "not mandatory but strongly recommended" reading assignment will be given each Wednesday. This allows for students who are feeling behind to catch up on their previously assigned reading as well. Ms. Jaede will even offer live-streaming read-alouds for grades K-2; stay tuned!
- Give time to catch up on existing work. Aside from the reading, no new coursework will be assigned on DEAR Wednesdays.
- Offer an opportunity for students to interact one-on-one with teachers. Simply email your teacher to set up a time (9:00 AM-2:00 PM Wednesdays) for individual attention and instruction.
