December 14, 2021Dear Saint John's Families, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, students, and parents for their continued support. Our school is truly a community school with many gifted and talented students, and it is at this time of the year when the closeness of friendship shines in our students' faces. The new year will bring new learning experiences, new challenges and new fun. I look forward to what lies ahead for us as a school community in 2022.
So, as we head off in our different directions this Friday, I want to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. I hope that you can spend some quality time with your loved ones. Before you know it, we will hit the ground running, after the break, and it will be as if we never left! Have a safe and healthy Christmas and holiday season. We will see you in 2022!
As families and friends gather over the Holiday season, I have a special request to all families. I will be providing one BD Veritor At-Home rapid antigen COVID-19 test kit for each child (BD Veritor At-Home test). The kit includes two tests. I urge all students to take one test 12-30-21 and the second one on 1-2-22. It would be great to start 2022 with zero positive COVID cases at Saint John's!

DECEMBER:
Reminder from my letter on December 8, 2021: December 20-22 are non-on-campus-school days and will extend the Christmas break (now December 20th until January 2), with classes resuming on January 3rd. To help our students fill this time, teachers will be assigning project-based homework. Each teacher will be in touch letting you know how you can contact them directly over these three days, if needed.

ATHLETICS:
Swim Team Tryouts Are Dec. 15
Saint John's Swim Team will be kicking off its season in the New Year, and is opening up tryouts to any new members in grades 1-8. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of an Olympic-size pool unassisted (25m). Tryouts are for new athletes only, and will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at White Bear Lake YMCA. ADORATION AT SAINT JOHN’S:
Saint John’s invites you to support your students, teachers and staff in a unique and fulfilling way; by praying for them during Eucharistic Adoration.
What is Eucharistic Adoration?
Eucharistic Adoration is time spent in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament giving praise and thanks – in silence. During Adoration, the Eucharistic host is exposed, and participants have a conversation with Jesus, pray the rosary or reflect on Scripture or other spiritual reading. As with any form of prayer, Adoration directs us inward, to the joy of a deeper relationship with God, and outward, to a more selfless love of others. Pope Francis said, "Jesus speaks in the silence of the mystery of the Eucharist."
The Adoration Schedule:
Eucharistic Adoration is offered in the church from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. each Friday that school is in session.

REGISTRATION OPEN TO ALL:
We are now accepting new students for the 2022-2023 school year. We already have a couple of classes near full - so ENROLL now to hold a spot for your student. There will be a family enrollment fee, which will be assessed when the first child from each family enrolls. The Early Eagle Enrollment Fee is $125/family until January 28, 2022. As of January 29,2022, the Eagle Enrollment Fee increases to $250/family. So, you will save $125/family if you enroll before January 28, 2022. (If you have more than one student, you should only be assessed the enrollment fee on one child. If you get charged again for this, please reach out to Karla Schultz at [email protected], and she can work with you on correcting that.)
Current parents, PLEASE DO NOT apply again through TADS. (Please note: If you have students who will be new to the school next school year, you will have to first fill out an application for admissions. You will find that option in your TADS account. You will only need to do this for new students, current students will start at the enrollment step.) Please see HERE for more information on enrollment for 2022-2023.

SCHULZE EARLY LEARNING SCHOLARSHIP:
Applications are being accepted for the 2022-2023 school year.- The Schulze Family Foundation has created the Schulze Early Learning Scholarship Program to assist middle-income families in gaining access to excellent preschool programs for their children.
- The Foundation firmly believes in and supports the strength of the academic experience, the caring community and the spiritual development that is provided by the Catholic elementary schools.
- Scholarships will be awarded ranging from $500 to $3000 and will be sent directly to the preschool to pay for tuition.
- Your child will be attending an eligible Catholic preschool.
- Your child will be in their last year of preschool in 2022-2023 and
- Your family is middle-income.
