After Gov. Walz's announcement today about a "Stay in Place" status for Minnesota through April 24, The Archdiocese has instructed we follow the governor's directive for public schools and maintain a closed building until May 4. There are most likely more questions than there are answers, but certainly we know we will be experiencing distance learning for another six weeks.
While we carefully evaluate what else this news might mean for the health and education of our students, I ask two things: 1) Please pray for our school leadership to make wise decisions. As a leader, I see we are well-prepared to return to school in the near future, and we must do what is best for all parties involved, first and foremost our students. 2) Give some grace: Teachers, staff and myself are navigating these constant changes with the best interest of our families in mind, and there may have been some rough waters. We will be providing more updates in the coming days, and ask for your patience. Remember: We are in this together.
In listening to this most recent update, I'm reminded of other times of uncertainty, where students are aware of what they hear on television, from their friends or even trusted adults talking about it. These resources may be useful in speaking about Coronavirus (COVID-19) with your children:

Free meals for students:
Roseville continues to serve nearly 1,000 meals to students across the district, and they will continue offering two meals a day to any student who needs them. Meals can be picked up curbside daily between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Brimhall, Central Park and Little Canada elementary schools. There are more than 20 additional locations where meals may be picked up at various times of day. Visit the Roseville Food Map to find a site near you.
Staff:
The teachers have been doing an excellent job! Please continue to share pictures of your child learning and having fun! You could also include a message. We have a awesome and supportive environment: Let's continue to show why Saint John's is the best school in Minnesota!
Eagle Club childcare:
For families of healthcare personnel, we have Eagle Club childcare available; however, we will need advance notice of your need of care. Since at this time we have had no requests, Eagle Club will not be open the rest of this week (through March 27). Please contact me no later than Friday, March 27, for any future care needs, as we have to assess and plan staffing accordingly.
As a reminder, healthcare staff as described below:
We are proud of our school and look forward to more exciting things to come our way!
