Many of you may have listened to the
Governor’s Press Conference this morning, announcing the closure of all public school districts March 18–27. In working with the Archdiocese and per my previous communication, Saint John’s School building will be closed tomorrow (March 16) through March 27. (At some time this week, we will be opening up the Gathering Space to pick up needed resources, to prepare for the implementation of our distance learning strategy; watch for more on this to come.)
Please read on for our tentative plan going forward.
Regular communication: While we are in this period of flux, please watch for a daily email update from me at or around 8:30 AM effective Tuesday, March 17. This is to ensure we provide the most up-to-date information possible in time for the start of that day. I am going to limit my emails to this time frame, unless an unprecedented need arises.
School closure: Our faculty and staff will be taking this coming week to reset their lesson plans and to strategize what an “equitable distance learning environment” might look like for all our students, grades K–8. (We recognize that this does not include Pre-K; please watch for more communication on our preschool plan in the days to come.)
As a part of this, we will have communication regarding how you as parents will be asked to be active participants in your child’s at-home education. As of right now, students will not have classes Monday, March 16–Friday, March 20.
Eagle Club Childcare: We are in conversation to have Eagle Club open to families of healthcare workers only, beginning Tuesday, March 17. If you are a professional in the healthcare field, please send me a direct email as soon as possible, so that we can plan accordingly:
[email protected].
Lastly, I want to reiterate my heartfelt appreciation for your patience, understanding and support throughout this unprecedented time. I’d like to offer prayers of solidarity for those who are already sick or dealing with the illness of a friend or loved one.
