Welcome! As a teacher and former parent at Saint John's School, I look for these qualities in a school for my own child and all children at Saint John's:
A safe and welcoming environment where my child is important
Strong academics, faith and values
Individualized and differentiated instruction
Friendly faces
Acceptance of all
Service to others and community
Cohesive faculty
Family commitment and participation
A place where children LOVE to go to school
Learning is fun!
Saint John's School is all of this and more!
Professional Background: I am so very proud to say that this is my 22nd year at Saint John's School. I am a graduate of the College of St. Catherine, with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for 37 years! I have taught Grades 1, 2, 1-2 multi-age, 3, 5 and 6.
I live in Forest Lake with my husband of 33 years. We have two wonderful children. Our son is a Staff Sergaent in the U.S. Marine Corps. Our daughter is currently serving in the National Guard.
In my free time, I enjoy anything that involves being with my family, golfing, cooking, home decorating, crafts, reading, gardening and entertaining with friends.
Philosophy of Education: I strive to provide a classroom atmosphere where all students feel safe, loved and respected. I believe a positive environment in which students feel valued enables each student to be open to learning and helps to develop a love of learning. Because students don’t all learn the same way, I provide differentiated lessons so that they are exposed to many different opportunities to learn and grow. My goals are to engage all students in active learning. I teach and model respect and appreciation for each child’s unique talents and abilities so that they learn to accept and celebrate each other the way Jesus taught us. I believe that the best learning and most successful school year occurs when the teacher, student and parents work together. Above all, I want my students to look forward to school each and every day.
