Hello!
I started teaching at St. John's in 2021. As a graduate of K-12 Catholic schooling, I value the importance of a faith based community in education. I’m looking forward to getting to know my students and their families.
Professional Background:
I have an undergraduate degree in Vocal Music Performance from Loras College (Dubuque, Iowa). After graduation, I worked as a college admission counselor for five years. I realized that I loved working with students, but missed having music in my daily life. I decided to attend the University of St. Thomas to obtain my Masters in Teaching and my teaching license. Outside of my degrees, I have been a lifelong musician. I started taking piano lessons at six years old and have continued playing ever since. I have been a church organist, pianist, and cantor since I was 12 years old. I’ve also been involved in theatre (on stage, in the pit orchestra, run crew, sound crew, lights, etc.) for my entire life.
Outside of music, I enjoy running, baking, and reading. I love animals, and have a dog, Olive. When I’m not at school, you can find me camping up the north shore or spending time at the cabin.
I will be getting married in December 2022, so stay tuned for a name change in January!
Education philosophy:
Humans are musical beings by nature. I strongly believe that all students have the potential to be exceptional musicians. I hope to foster a love and passion for music in my students by introducing them to different genres of music, instruments, dances, and music of the world. I strive to create an environment where all students feel welcomed, valued, appreciated, and loved.
