Summer Eagle Club is an all day program that provides care for children preschool to 5th grade. It’s a great place to hang out with old friends and make new ones. Students do not need to be enrolled at SJOLC to attend the summer program, making it a great place to meet and spend time with students from all over our community.
We have weekly themes and a daily schedule that provides consistency for your child’s day. We aren’t afraid to change things up though! Starting our day as a combined Preschool- 5th grade group in the morning allows time for our older friends to mentor the younger ones, and also for the younger ones to gain confidence in building friendships. Most of the day is spent in similar aged groups so that we can provide age-appropriate activities. We all come back together in the afternoon to finish the day and share about our day’s adventures. Our days include themed activities like craft activities, group challenges/games, and science activities. We also include gym play, outside play, and of course, plenty of structured free-play as part of our schedule. We even have reading time every day for both groups, and rest time for our preschooler's.
Summer Eagle Club goes on a field trip once a week, with additional walks to a neighborhood park, water play days, and other special event days. This information will all be provided on a monthly Activity Calendar that goes out to parents once they are registered.
Endless possibilities!
June 16–20: The sky will be the limit to our fun as we kick off our summer. This week will be filled with making new friends and growing our existing friendships. We will learn how friendships have endless possibilities!
Blast Off!
June 23-27: Come and blast off with us as we explore the vastness of outer space and how we can travel and live there. Let’s build and design rockets and spaceships that will move us through space and even provide a cozy place to live.
Summer Eagle club closed
July 1-5: CLOSED for the Fourth of July Holiday
Feathered Friends
July 7-11: Wouldn’t it be fun to be able to fly? Come and investigate how birds were built to fly, but humans need machines. We will also learn how we can be great friends to the birds through feeding them and creating habitats for them.
Jet set
July 14-18: Whether you prefer zooming through the sky on airplanes, helicopters, or even gliders, you are sure to have fun building your own flying machine. And is it more important for them to fly high, or fly far, or be comfy? Join us as we decide which it is!
Go fly a kite
July 21-25: Not everything that flies has a motor or wings. Kites have neither, but they are so fun to fly! We are going to test different designs and styles and see which one we each like best, and learn how kites can fly without feathers or motors.
Weather? Or not?
July 28-August 1: We observe so much of the weather up in the sky, with some of it even falling on us from the sky! Explore clouds, rain, and storms with us and how the sky is truly the limit to our weather.
Bridges and skyscrapers
August 4-8: Do skyscrapers really scrape the sky? Buildings and bridges do reach up to the sky as if they are soaring upward. Can you build one that touches the sky?
What’s the buzz?
August 11-15: Some of the smallest creatures can fly through the sky at the highest altitudes and just as far as some of the biggest airplanes. Come spend some time with us as we have fun with the insects that fill our skies.
Oh to dream!
August 18-22: As summer comes to a close, it causes us to dream of what is coming next. And it reminds us to reflect on all of the fun we had with friends, and the fun we will still have this week!
